Commonwealth Pharmacists Day 2025
Six continents. One profession.
Together, we thrive.
A Message from our President
As I pen this message in my capacity as the youngest-ever President of the CPA, I do so with profound enthusiasm for encouraging meaningful connectivity and uptake of our programs for both the younger and senior generations of pharmacists. It is clear to me that – although we will not and should not ever stop aiming to progress further – the achievements of our organisation and the global community that make up our membership are deserving of recognition. Please, therefore, join us in celebrating Commonwealth Pharmacists Day 2025, and thank you for all of your continued efforts and support!Â

June 16th is Commonwealth Pharmacists Day!
Every year on June 16th, the Commonwealth Pharmacists Association (CPA) pays tribute to pharmacists across the 56 countries of the Commonwealth. This date commemorates the founding of CPA in by nearly ever National Pharmacy Association (NPA) of the Commonwealth in 1969, and the birthday of our inaugural President, Albert Howells.
Commonwealth Pharmacists Day is an opportunity to shine a light on the huge role that pharmacists play in providing for patients, promoting public health and strengthening health systems across the Commonwealth. It’s also a day when we celebrate CPA’s history and achievements.
This year’s theme of “Six Continents. One Profession. Together, we Thrive.” was chosen to reflect how, in a world where the global healthcare landscape is rapidly changing, cross-country and cross-sector collaborations are becoming increasingly vital to ensuring the world is able to achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
RPS is delighted to support Commonwealth Pharmacists Day 2025 and its powerful theme of ‘together we thrive’ which aligns closely with our own vision for the future. Collaboration is central to RPS’ work both across Great Britain and internationally including in the Commonwealth and it has never been more important that we work together to enable pharmacists to develop and thrive and to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients everywhere.

Announcing the CPA Academy
As a symbol of our commitment to bringing together pharmacists around the world, we are using this Commonwealth Pharmacists Day to announce a something hugely exciting from our global team: the launch of the CPA Academy!
Launching in July 2025, the CPA Academy will replace our existing CPD Platform as a new, cutting edge digital continuing professional development (CPD) tool for pharmacists around the Commonwealth. Available completely free of charge to members of any National Pharmacy Association that belongs to CPA and to a modest fee for pharmacists in other countries, the CPA Academy will combine our existing CPD offer with a host of exciting new resources, social learning tools and innovative digital features.

Support CPA with a donation
The Commonwealth Pharmacists Association has been advocating for pharmacists and delivering programmes to help patients around the world by empowering and upskilling pharmacists since 1969. We are a registered charity in England & Wales and a global not-for-profit organisation funded by a mixture of grants, donations and patronships. Every donation goes towards funding our mission to empower pharmacists to improve health and wellbeing throughout the Commonwealth.
