Introducing...
In July 2025, the Commonwealth Pharmacists Association (CPA) is delighted to be launching the CPA Academy – an innovative new dynamic and empowerment hub for the professional development of pharmacists around the world, with a focus on the needs of Commonwealth members, and a hybrid learning offer.
The Academy will feature diverse (and in some cases structured) learning pathways tailored to the needs of different pharmacists. It will offer interactive and low-bandwith friendly e-learning courses, digital resources, multi-course certification pathways and a host of innovative features to make learning more engaging and rewarding. Participants in our fellowship programmes, like ALF-A, will be able to use the Academy’s digital platform as a tool to support and manage elements of their learning and development.
Eventually, the Academy will also be home to a mentoring platform enabling pharmacists around the world to connect with each other for the purposes of mentoring, shared learning and exchanging knowledge. CPA will be constantly updating the Academy offer with new courses, resources, toolkits and multi-course certification pathways.
The Academy’s digital platform Open Beta will launch in July 2025 and will be available to pharmacists around the world.

Questions & Answers
The Academy will be launching in July 2025. We’ll let everyone know the final date very soon!
An ‘Open Beta’ is a testing period in which any member of the public can make use of a new digital tool. In our case, we are describing the launch of the Academy’s digital component as an ‘Open Beta’ because we will be testing some of our new, innovative digital tools with thousands of users for the first time. Although we’ll do our best to make sure the Academy is ready, there may be some bugs and technical glitches in the first few weeks that we need help fixing. We may also launch some of our planned features a little later into the Academy’s life.
The Academy will be available completely free of charge to any pharmacist who belongs to a National Pharmacy Association (NPA) with CPA Membership. If your NPA isn’t a CPA member, or if you aren’t part of your NPA, you can qualify for Academy access by becoming an Individual Member of CPA for £20 per year.
Although only NPAs in the Commonwealth may join CPA as full members, Individual Members can be pharmacists from anywhere in the world, so the Academy is a Commonwealth-first platform open to pharmacists anywhere in the world.
The digital component of the CPA Academy requires an internet connection at this time and can be accessed via the web on desktop, tablet or mobile phone when it launches. It will work with all major browsers and is optimised for low-bandwith environments, making it user friendly for pharmacists in low-and-middle-income countries or other poor connectivity areas.
The CPD Platform is being discontinued, but all of the content our users are familiar with can be found in the new CPA Academy. Any progress you had made as a learner on the CPD Platform – including in course completion status and certificates earned – will carry over seamlessly to the new CPA Academy.
All of your data will be preserved and connected to the CPA Academy, so you can login with the same username and password that you’ve been using to access the CPD Platform until now!
When the CPA Academy launches, you will be able to login to your new user profile and, if you wish, delete your user account. Please note that if you do so, you will also lose all your progress from the CPD Platform. If you are a CPD Platform user and you wish to opt out before the Academy launches, please write to communications@commonwealthpharmacy.org and we will make sure your account is removed before the Academy launches – though once again you will lose all access to your CPD Platform records and certificates.
In both cases, the loss of your data is irreversible and if you decide to join the Academy at a future date, you will need to retake any CPD courses you have already completed.
