CPA Shortlisted for Multiple Antibiotic Guardian Awards!
The nominations follow CPA’s win in the Innovation and Technology category at the 2022/23 Awards
We are delighted to announce that the Commonwealth Pharmacists Association (CPA) has been shortlisted for several awards at the forthcoming Antibiotic Guardian 2024/25 Shared Learning & Awards.
Both of our core antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) programmes are represented on the shortlist. Our Commonwealth Partnerships for AMS (CwPAMS) teams have been nominated in the Diagnostic Stewardship and Multi-Country Collaboration categories for the Clinical Microbiology and Hub and Spoke Model workstreams, respectively. Meanwhile, the Surveillance and Prescribing Support for AMS Resource Capacity Building’s (SPARC) Prescribing Companion App has been shortlisted in the Animal Health, Agriculture and Food Supply category for its provision of animal health guidelines.
Dr Nikki D’Arcy
Senior Technical Project Manager (Clinical Microbiology), CwPAMS
“We’re honoured that our Specimen Optimal Sampling resource pack has been nominated for an Antibiotic Guardian award.
“These resources were created to support clinicians and lab teams with quick, practical guidance – helping improve sample quality and ultimately strengthen our collective efforts against antimicrobial resistance (AMR).”
The Antibiotic Guardian Awards – now in its seventh year – was established to share learning from and celebrate the work of healthcare professionals across the UK and worldwide in tackling AMR. These awards form part of the ongoing Antibiotic Guardian campaign, led by the UK Health Security Agency in collaboration with UK devolved administrations and professional bodies.
The shortlisting of CPA projects for these awards marks the third consecutive occasion on which we have received this honour, having won in the Innovation and Technology category at the sixth awards for our AMS Game and in the Multi-Country Collaboration category at the fifth awards for CwPAMS, along with Global Health Partnerships (then known as THET).
“Being shortlisted for an Antibiotic Guardian Award in the Animal Health, Agriculture and Food Supply category is a powerful testament to our commitment to advancing One Health AMS through digital innovation.
“These evidence-based animal health prescribing resources support better treatment decisions, standardised care, and improved outcomes, while also contributing to disease prevention, biosecurity, and surveillance.
“By bridging access gaps – especially in low resource settings – the App is empowering frontline health practitioners to combat AMR and protect the health of people, animals, and the environment.”
