World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (WAAW) is celebrated each year on the 18th-24th November to increase awareness of global antimicrobial resistance (AMR) among the general public, health workers and policy makers. AMR is one of the biggest threats facing us today. Without effective antimicrobials, it is fear that even common infections may be hard to treat and increasing the risk of death.
The CPA has been very active in this area over the last few years, joining the global effort to help tackle antimicrobial resistance and promote the important role that pharmacists can play.
