Prof. Claire Anderson
Prof. Anderson is a Professor of Social Pharmacy in the Pharmacy Practice and Policy Division at the University of Nottingham, School of Pharmacy. Since 2021, she has served as President of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
Her research has led and informed the development of pharmacy and pharmacy education in areas including public health, influenza vaccination, prescribing, and pharmacists in general practice, both in the UK and globally. As an internationally renowned social pharmacy researcher, Prof. Anderson has shaped the future of global research in this area and, through her work with the International Pharmaceutical Federation, she has also helped to set the agenda in pharmacy education research and development.

Raymond Anderson
Raymond has experience of working as a community pharmacist for over 40 years. He qualified as an independent pharmacist prescriber in 2007 and is currently a Director of Northern Pharmacies Ltd.
Raymond was a member of the Council of the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland (PSNI) from 1997-2012, holding the post of President from 2006-2009, and is a Past President and Trustee of the Commonwealth Pharmacists Association (CPA).
He was the representative for Northern Ireland pharmacists at the Pharmaceutical Group of the European Union and is a former member of the PSNI’s Pharmacy Forum. Furthermore, Raymond was appointed to the European Medicines Agency’s Pharmacovigilance Risk Assessment Committee as a Scientific Expert in April 2016, remaining in post for six years.
He has also worked in primary care partnerships, integrated care partnerships and communities of practice, supporting collaborative engagement and service development with patients and other healthcare professionals.
“I have been involved with CPA, as a Councillor, Vice President, President and now Trustee, from 2006. I have seen how CPA impacts pharmacy practice across the Commonwealth, from the supply of BNFs, project work, educational modules, leadership training and advocacy work. The enthusiasm of the staff and their commitment to developing the profession for the benefit of patients is infectious and I just wanted to be a part of it. Becoming a Patron is my way of supporting the profession which has given me so much over my career.”
Dr Adinarayana Andy
Dr Andy is a pharmacy manager with over 16 years of experience in pharmacy management and drug discovery research, having worked at both independent pharmacies and pharmaceutical research organisations.
He holds pharmacy licenses in Michigan and Ohio and certifications in pharmacy-based immunisation delivery, patient-centred diabetes care, medicine therapy management services, and pharmacy-based test and treatment. Dr Andy has been a member of various professional associations and has served as a peer reviewer for various journals and books.
He has also worked as a Pharmacy Assistant Manager, Pharmacy Intern, Senior Research Scientist and Research Associate at Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories in India.Â
“It is because of my belief in the force of cross-border cooperation that I was drawn to be a Patron of the Commonwealth Pharmacists Association. Together, we are pharmacists who care about the world’s health outcomes. Putting my money behind an organization that helps pharmacists develop their careers, ensures access to the medicines they need, and expands the pharmacy workforce in the communities where they are required is important to me and our vision of a healthier, more cohesive Commonwealth.”
Prof. Christine Margaret Bond
Prof. Bond is an emeritus Professor and past Head of Academic Primary Care at the University of Aberdeen, now serving as Editor of the International Journal of Pharmacy Practice.
Additionally, she is a past Chair of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) Science and Research Board, Chair of the RPS Panel of Fellows, and a former elected member of the Scottish Pharmacy Board. From 1996-2012, she was seconded to the Grampian Health Board as Chief Pharmaceutical Officer, developing new community pharmacy and general practice based services.
Prof. Bond has received over 100 research grants and has over 300 research publications on the contribution of pharmacy to the delivery of health care. In recognition of her contributions to the profession, she was awarded the Pharma Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010.
“I believe it is important to recognize the global family of pharmacists and to encourage and support our colleagues. I am impressed at the CPA initiatives in education, advocacy and networking and want to contribute to these.”
Prof. Ruth Edwards
Prof. Edwards is a pharmacist by profession and an educator by passion. She is a professor of Pharmacy Education at the University of Wolverhampton and is also a community pharmacist.
Her research interests in teaching, learning and innovative assessment include creativity in pharmacy education, education for mental health, person-centred care and consultation skills. Prof. Edwards is involved in leadership roles with national and international pharmacy organisations and is committed to the development of pharmacy, pharmacists and pharmacy students.
Prof. (hon) Jamie Hayes
Jamie is a pharmacist, Director at the Welsh Medicines Resource Centre and an Honorary Professor at Cardiff Metropolitan University, School of Sport and Health Sciences.
A clinical pharmacist by background, he has a 30-year career in healthcare leadership and medical education and his current career focus is behavioural change, culture, coaching and performance. Jamie served as an elected board member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society from 2016-2022.
In 2017, he founded JMH Collaborations, a coaching, leadership and performance consultancy offering one-to-one and team coaching to executives, leaders and managers from organisations across the private and public sectors. Jamie is also co-host of The Aural Apothecary Podcast – a podcast about medicines, people and stories.

Brendon Jiang
Brendon is a senior clinical pharmacist and nationally recognised pharmacy leader based in Oxfordshire. With over 20 years’ experience across community pharmacy, general practice, primary care networks, and system leadership, his clinical expertise focuses on multimorbidity, polypharmacy, and deprescribing.
Brendon is Vice-Chair of the English Pharmacy Board, Treasurer of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and is a NICE Medicines and Prescribing Associate.

Having trained and practised across different healthcare systems, I value the organisation’s unique ability to facilitate shared learning, strengthen professional leadership, and improve patient care internationally. Prof. Andrew McLachlan
A pharmacist and academic leader at the University of Sydney, Prof. McLachlan has served as an Australian Councillor for the Commonwealth Pharmacists Association (CPA) and is a proud CPA Patron.
He also serves on committees related to human research ethics, medicines safety, medicines evaluation and international anti-doping. Prof. McLachlan was awarded the Order of Australia in the 2018 Queen’s Birthday Honours for services to pharmacy and professional and scientific organisations.

A/Prof. Steve Morris
Steve’s career passion has been the quality use of medicines, medicines safety, health literacy, workforce strategies and innovations which enhance the impact of pharmacists on patient outcomes. He has worked in clinical and managerial roles in the various health sectors, including community pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, primary care, industry, government and NGOs.
Steve is currently CEO of St John Ambulance South Australia and serves on several health-related boards. His previous roles include CEO of Arthritis South Australia, CEO of NPS MedicineWise, Executive Director of SA Pharmacy and Chief Pharmacist for South Australia. Prior to moving to Australia, he was Deputy Chief Executive of the National Prescribing Centre in the United Kingdom.
“I became a patron of the Commonwealth Pharmacists Association [CPA] because I’m passionate about pharmacy and addressing health inequity. I’ve worked in international NGOs and understand how hard it is to bring about meaningful change. CPA drives and facilitates enhanced outcomes, working collectively and with individual countries; partnership and collaboration are key, and I’m keen to provide whatever support I can. CPA plays a vital role in advocacy for strengthening health systems and enhancing the quality use of medicines and medicines safety. Developing the pharmacy workforce capacity through education is key.”
David Tamby Rajah
David has worked in the NHS for 20 years in various roles such as Senior Primary Care Manager and Head of Medicines Optimisation. His expertise encompasses community pharmacy, primary care, clinical pharmacy programmes, and commissioning. He has excelled working at national and regional level with professional bodies, regulators, trade associations, NHS Digital, Health Education England, and service providers, ensuring extensive stakeholder engagement.
David has successfully delivered complex transformations including NHS Walk-in Centres and Clinical Pharmacy Programmes, as well as developing Primary Care Strategies. He has also undertaken medicines management, cost efficiency initiatives, and led teams to implement contractual reviews and new service transitions.
David regularly undertakes charitable work in his community, enabling greater social outreach and support. He is very passionate in his approach to improving health and care systems for both patients and staff, for which he utilises innovative approaches to realise qualitative and quantitative benefits.
Prof. Tracey Thornley
Prof. Thornley is a pharmacist and health economist, currently undertaking the roles of Professor of Health Policy at the University of Nottingham and Scientific Advisor for Surveillance Transformation and the National Biosurveillance Network at the UK Health Security Agency.
In addition, for the International Pharmaceutical Federation, she is a member of the Commission on Antimicrobial Resistance and the Executive Committee of the Community Pharmacy Section, as well as serving as Chair of the Data and Intelligence Commission.
“I am passionate about pharmacy as a profession and all that it can offer. Pharmacy professionals have the skills and passion to support patients and healthcare systems in every setting and country across the globe. The work that the Commonwealth Pharmacists Association do is vital in supporting countries to maximise the value of the profession, having a direct impact on patients’ access to healthcare services as well as enabling change with policymakers more widely.”
