The Commonwealth Pharmacists Association (CPA) has an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified finance professional to join the charities current Board of Trustees.
Representing over a million pharmacists, in 37 countries throughout the Commonwealth, in some of the poorest nations, the CPA advances health, promotes wellbeing and improves medicines-related education and use for the benefit of the people of the Commonwealth. By supporting the development of safe and effective systems of medicines management, maximising the skill level and encouraging the better utilisation of the pharmacy workforce, the CPA seeks to encourage the optimisation of medicines and health-related advice given to the public, with the aim of improving health outcomes and reducing health inequalities throughout the Commonwealth.
The role requires you to be qualified with a recognised accounting body, have knowledge of the Charity Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) and be an experienced Board member.
- You will contribute to and ensure the effective delivery of our expanding remit and have a commitment to the organisation’s strategic goals.
- The ability to provide annual and periodic budgeting and forecasting, to prepare financial plans and monthly management reporting and to ensure overall compliance with statutory requirements is essential.
- Knowledge of or a willingness to develop an understanding of compliance, risk management and control of processes will be beneficial.
- An understanding of the health sector, pharmacy and/or international development would be beneficial but is not essential.
You should be able to commit yourself for a minimum of 10 days per annum. Trustee meetings are held quarterly. Board members serve on a voluntary basis, with reasonable expenses paid for a tenure of three years.
