The resources on this page are testament to the importance of pharmacists in the global fight against COVID-19. I couldn’t be prouder of the work that colleagues across the Commonwealth have done – and continue to do – to combat the spread of this disease. I want to thank you all for your continued efforts in this regard.

Pharmacists are essential to the success of the global COVID-19 vaccination programme. They play a vital role in building vaccine awareness among the public, and dispelling misinformation about vaccines. In most developed countries, pharmacists are also trained and authorised to administer vaccines. But the situation is different in many low- and middle-income countries where pharmacist involvement is limited to stocking and supplying vaccines. We urgently need to enable all pharmacists to undertake all aspects of vaccination – something the FIP addressed in its recent Transforming Vaccination Globally and Regionally series.
The CPA continues to support its members to develop or acquire programmes to train the pharmacy workforce as competent vaccinators, from supply chain to treatment and reporting of vaccine-related adverse events. If you’re a national pharmacy association in the Commonwealth but not yet a member of the CPA, I urge you to join us.
